Tips for Brides

Every girl dreams of a fairytale wedding and wants to look like a princess on her special day. To make your dreams come true, proper planning and being organized is the key. Getting help from relatives or friends helps you be stress free on the day of the wedding. A stress free bride has a radiant glow on her face.  It's the one day in your life when everything has to be perfect. From your hair to your make up to your clothes to your shoes. As your wedding planning starts few months or a year ahead, don't forget to take care of your skin to look like a princess on your big day of life.

How to prepare your skin for the big day?
  • Get a Facial done at least a week before the wedding.
  • Get your eyebrows shaped 2-3 days prior to the wedding day.
  • Try to get enough sleep.
  • Drink lots of water.
  • Exfoliate your skin using a gentle scrub every 2-3 days at least a week before the big day.
  • Use moisturizer or any kind of toner before going out to avoid damaging your skin.
  • Treat your chapped or cracked lips by using lip balms, petroleum jelly to keep your lips smooth.
  • Don’t forget rest and relax whenever you get a chance.

Getting ready for Mehndi Night
  • Let Your Manicure and pedicure done before you apply mehndi.
  • Wax your feet and hands a day or two before your mehndi day
  • Keep the mehndi paste on over night or at least 8 hours for best reasults.
  • Mehendi takes couple of days to develop the color.Schedule the mehndi day accordingy.
Planning your wedding and reception

While hiring your makeup artist and hairstylist, it is very important you go for a trial session. It’s worth paying for a trial session than being disappointed on your big day. This also gives you and your makeup artist some relief since both of you know what needs to be done and having met earlier gives you a sense of familiarity.
  • As a makeup artist and hairstylist, I recommend not cutting your hair 2 months before wedding. Blunt ends are easy to curl or put up in a bun.
  • Get your facial and threading done at least 3-4 days before wedding. It allows your skin calm down.
  • While planning your wedding, allow good three hours for your makeover.
  • To save some time for getting ready keep your hair dry and free of hair spray and moose.
  • To get your hair and makeup done, avoid a crowded area. Choose a room, which has enough lighting, a mirror, and a taller chair with a low back and electricity outlets.
  • Keep your outfit and jewelry all laid out and handy.
  • It is advisable to keep some safety pins, u-pins, your compact and lipstick in your purse for touch ups.
  • Try your outfit a few days before the wedding; most brides are likely to loose some weight before the wedding. It will allow you to get alterations done if needed.
  • Avoid partying late night at least a day before your wedding and treat yourself with good night sleep.
Planning the wedding and reception on the same day is not very ideal for South Asian weddings. A bride does not get enough time to get ready for reception.
  • If you happened to plan it on same day, avoid getting your makeup and hair done twice if you don’t have about three hours to get ready.
  • Ask your makeup artist to use neutral colors, which will work with any kind of outfit.
  • Choose a hairstyle that can be altered in the evening, so you can get a different look without too much hassle.
